[ A deeper draught of the pleasantly fruity drink lets the question sink in a bit in the natural lull. She's reasonably certain he wouldn't be that foolish, but... it's tough to say with Akira. He's not an easy person to predict, even with Mayou's proclivity for reading between the lines.
After draining roughly a third of the bottle in one long pull, she continues: ]

Fylgan hex. In other words — unpleasant effects that "follow" someone for a set amount of time constantly. Very annoying, trust me.

[ Mayou stuffs the salmon piece in her mouth and mimes a roughly circular shape with her hands, pauses for a moment to assess, then makes it a tiiiiny bit bigger — beach ball size — with a decisive nod.
Yeah, this big. Perfect for getting inside a building and hanging out over someone's head. Menacingly. ]

[ Thief doing thief things... she'll get back at him eventually. Just you wait, Akira!!! For now, she's sufficiently distracted by selecting a piece of yellowtail sushi and parsing a 'yeah, kinda sorta' answer that won't sound like a total copout. How should she put this? ]

Real weird guy, that one. He has these crazy facial scars... and pointy teeth! Like a shark or something. Wild, right?

[ And he has a massive ego, but she's politely not mentioning it. ]

[ She grumbles, chewing on that piece of sushi with a distinctly petulant furrow of her brows. Boss. Master. Great Bandit King. Mayou's reasonably certain Chobe's inflated self-importance can be seen from space with the naked eye at this point.
At least this yellowtail is nice? Maybe sushi's growing on her a little. ]

[ Mayou might be a wild creature stuffed in a cute girl's body, but even she isn't uncouth enough to talk with her mouth full — after making a muffled noise of disbelief, she takes a hasty swig of calpico to wash down the fish and rice. ]

It'd be a whole lot funnier if the fallout wasn't getting dumped on me.

[Akira knows what kind of person Chobe is. genuinely? he likes the guy, for reasons he can't quite comprehend but won't think about too hard. but if he is giving Mayou trouble, then. . .]

[ Gasp... doesn't that sound serious? Mayou sure looks gloomy about it — in her opinion, it's the most painful experience someone like her can possibly endure. What torture, he might ask?
Looking Akira straight in the eye, with 100% seriousness, she leans forward a little and intones gravely: ]

[ Truly, she's been dealt a terrible hand by the forces that be... it's great excuse to snag one of those pocky boxes and start tearing open the packaging, though! This right here is Mayou giving him an ACCUSING POINT with a pocky stick like a sugary magic wand. ]

Should I be concerned that you apparently know each other?

[Akira holds up both hands when she jabs the pocky stick at him, like a man cornered by a VERY DANGEROUS (very sweet) weapon. but he looks amused!]

No. I don't have a brother. [har har] I'd say we're friends, but I think he might take issue with the word.

If you start up with that brother crap too, I'm going to double my hazards fee.

[ Try it, Akira. See what happens. AHEM......... anyway, that deadly weapon of hers gets neatly snapped in half so she can stuff it in her mouth like a squirrel while reaching for another. ]

Plus it just sounds like Too Much Work to dig into — easier to plead ignorance if she just can't be bothered to pester him for the juicy deets. ]

Could be riskier, I guess. Supposedly even the jail here is pretty ritzy.
